I was told I needed a hyst in mid December 2002. After discussion with my dh, I saw a General Surgeon on December 16th. My surgery was scheduled for 10 days later December 27th. Christmas kept my mind off the surgery. I went in at 6:30 a.m. to Same Day Surgery where they prepared me for surgery. At 8:30 I was off to the O.R. I kept running thoughts through my mind. I kept thinking: "you will never be pregnant again"...over and over. I work at the hospital, so all my friends came in the holding area to give me support. They took me to the surgery suite and my friend was waiting on my...she is a nurse. 2 hours later I woke up in recovery begging for pain meds. They hooked my morphine pump up and I was better. This I kept until I was discharged. I got to lose the catheter at 1 day post op. I had a 12 inch vertical incision. It took a few days for me to feel better and I didn't eat for a few days. I had more pain before the surgery than I did afterwards. I was in the hospital 4 days and off work 7 weeks. Now, nearly 4 months later I feel like a new person. It is great! Good Luck to all!
