help.. I go in Monday, the 8th of March for a TVH.. Kids are 7 and 3, so I know I can't expect to much help from them. My DH is going to try, but any organisational advice is a help... I am already scared silly of hospitals as it is, to think of coming home to what I am sure will be a disaster is terrifying I have made a list of the questions you suggest to ask, and what to pack etc, but we only had a week's warning for the surgery, so I am kinda struggling to get everything done in advance... I know I can't get 4 weeks meals done for instance, though I have gotten lasagne put away...

Hi there - thanks for asking about me!!!!
Well I am 2 1/2 weeks post op and doing okay - surgery occurred without event and the doctor said better then expected. so far the worst part of the experience was being in the hospital and having to beg for pain meds from a very unresponsive nursing staff.
They didn't have to cut abdominally and only removed the cervix and uterus. Bleeding has stopped x 3 days and the only real pain I have is more of a soreness - stopped my pain pills 2 days ago
all in all I guess i ended up in the 50 % that did okay with everything :-)

Catlin, First I'd like to say Welcome to Hysterspot. Your fellow Hysterspotters will do what we can to help you through this. One week certainly isn't a lot of notice to prepare, so my suggestion would be to write out a grocery list for your dh to pick up just prior to your return home - things like bagged salad, tv dinners, fish and chips, frozen lazagna etc. You can cook, it is just not advisable to stand for too long a period for the first couple of weeks. So quick meals would be wise. If you have friends offer to do something to help ask them to make you a casserole or vacuum - don't be shy - If the house is a disaster when you get home - close your eyes - my ds stayed in the house when I was in the hospital to care for the dog and when I got home he had left the night before and the poor dog hadn't been out for almost 24 hours, there were dishes in the sink, pots on the stove - so thankfully my mother did up the dishes and took the poor dog for a walk. My mother also came by once a week and vaccuumed for me which was a blessing. I call the 6 weeks of recuperating the 'swallow your pride and close your eyes to the mess' time lol - your house won't disintegrate if you don't clean it - but let your friends know that you may need their help and if you have a church - ask the pastor to try and arrange for child care and household help... that is what they are there for. I will keep you in prayer and know that if you have ANY questions feel free to ask - there isn't a question that we haven't heard or asked ourselves - and feel free to add us to your messenger chat on yahoo. If we are online we will be happy to chat with you. See the chat section for our handles.

Gretchen so glad things went well. Thanks for letting us know how you are doing. IF you didn't have a TAH I am assuming you had a TVH - luckily for you TVH's heal faster - keep us posted.
Don't be a stranger.
