Hi i'm almost 4 months post-op on oct 27th i had a tah/bso and i have been having lower back pain ever since i had surgery. I have also been having pains in my vagina. My doctor says that it is normal and it will go away but it may take up to a year. Iwas wondering if there was anyone one else having or has had these problems and i am open to some suggestions on what will help. I couldn't get a doctors appointment until april 6th. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks a lot. lillypad(annie)

Annie, as I mentioned when we chatted, I did have some pain as well, but it did stop after a few months. My doctor gave me Tylenol #3's to dull the pain. My surgeon said the pain is a result of the cuff healing at the top of the vagina. When it starts to heal and the swelling goes down and the stitches start to dissolve you will experience pain from the 'pulling' - once it is completely healed the pain should cease - for me it did.
I hope someone has the ideal solution for you. I will do a search tonight and see what I can learn for you.

HI,
I am 8 months post op and yes it does get better. I still though have some pains. I had TAH, BSO, BLadder suspension. I feel pains down there like "cramps" at times and still have some discomfort with fooling around. My do said everything is healing fine. I also had some granulation of the tissue for the first 3-4 months. My doc said that some people take longer to heal and those areas are sensative for a while. She said it can be 6 months to a year to feel great. I know that doesnt help alot but it is normal. I take motrin or Panlor (migraine pain med). Heat also helps like a heating pad or moist heat pack
