A list of helpful items for the hospital:
1. Pads....most hospitals will provide you with these but they may not be what you have in mind. A thin pad should work just fine.
2. Panties....You will want some comfortable panties a bit bigger than you are used to wearing.
3. Loungewear....Be it a gown or pj's having your own will make you much more comfortable.
4. Robe....you will be advised to walk, and it is a good idea to have arobe to cover up in.
5. Tread socks or grip/slip-on slippers....While you are walking these will hopefully keep you in an upright position.
6. Magazines or a book....Most of us will not be able to read for long periods but it can help occupy you during those stretches when you just can't sleep.
7. Comfortable clothes to go home in....Some ladies just wear comfortable clothes in and then wear them home. I just wore my pj's home.
8. A travel size pillow....this is very helpful to shield your stomach during coughs, turning, etc.. and they are great for the ride home.
9. Blistex....your lips will be very dry so you will want to use this to keep them moist.
10. Hard candy....if you are on a clear diet post-op you can suck on candy to keep your mouth moist.
11. Toothbrush and toothpaste....most hospital will provide this for you but you can nearly bet they will not be the quality you have at home.
12. Shampoo/Conditioner....many hospitals do not have this for you.
13. Hairbrush....again the hospital may provide this but they are not good quality brushes.
14. Deodorant....the bed and the hot flashes combined will have you sweating a gallon.
* I will add to this list as needed*
