I just joined your group today and so glad I did. This month will be one year and its been a relatively good year, but I've had some odd things happen and that's what prompted me to join. I only have one ovary left and its in good shape, they also took my cervix (because of a history of cervical cancer in my family). I started spotting. Went to the Dr. and apparantly I had some tissue left that everytime I ovulated, was cycling. They took care of it with some silver nitrite. Now, it seems that I still have pms and cycle type symptoms. Their not bad, but their there. I assume its because I still have a producing ovary left. I get the lower back pain, I guess when I ovulate, I have very tender breast and my face breaks out, just like when I had a cycle. Mind you, life is 95% better now since my surgery! This just has me a little confused. I would love for anyone to share with me, if they feel like it, if they have had similar things going on. Thanks, can't wait to hear from some of you.

Welcome to the Hyster Spot!! We are so glad to have you here. The symptoms you are experiencing seems to be common among women with 1 ovary since your body undergoes the whole cycle with the exception of the actual period. That being said...I am sorry that you are experiencing them. Hopefully some of the ladies here that still have their ovary (ies) will jump in here and give you some advice on relieving the symptoms! Happy New Year and I will look forward to seeing further posts! Jana

Welcome ckallen,
Sorry I havent' been around recently - the holidays have kept me fairly busy along with a few health problems.
I don't know much about the spotting - I kept both my ovaries but nothing else - and have had few problems. I do have the occasional hot flash so my doctor is assuming that my ovaries never kicked back in post op - which can happen. I do know that someone here - I can't recall off the top of my head who - had some tissue that had to be removed which was causing spotting - so it may very well be all it is. This procedure is usually done in the office and is very simple - praying that this is all the problem is. Please keep us posted.
Please feel free to add your comments throught the site, post your jokes, recipes, advice, suggestions etc.

I was the one that had the bleeding and had to have tissue cut off my vag. cuff with NO pain medicine! Ouch! Then of course they treated it with silver nitrate. This was at 7 months post-op! Jana

Ok I know this is probably a dumb question but what is the vag. cuff? My doc metioned that she would check it at the next visit. I was just wondering what it was.

Now I KNOW you didn't call this a dumb question lol - we have learned through our experience that there is never a dumb question. To answer this very good question: The vaginal Cuff is the top of your vagina - where your cervix once was. When the cervix is removed the doctor has to close it up - this is what they call the Vaginal Cuff. Hope this answers you question - if not - don't hesitate to say so and I will try and to clarify. Remember if you ask the question there are probably a 1000 other women reading this and wishing they knew the answer to it as well ;D
