Admittedly I found the waiting for the surgery the most difficult. I learned in August of 2002 that I would require a hysterectomy. In November the surgeon set everything in motion, and due to an oversite by the doctors secretary - my date was bumped to March 17. I am now 2 weeks post op and doing great.
The morning of surgery I slept in... good thing I had my parents picking me up, or I might have missed it... I was completely relaxed... thanks to all the friends and support I had. I went in to the hospital 2 hours pre-op... surgery was scheduled for 10:15 am... the nurse started the IV, gave me a couple of pills - an antibiotic - and then I walked over to the OR.... climbed up on the bed and the next thing I knew I was in the recovery room. I didn't even do a count down... they had me knocked out so fast I didnt' see it coming. I was given a morphine pump as well.
As I said, today I am just a little over 2 weeks post-op, and doing great. Pain is minimal and easily controlled. I still tire easily, but that is to be expected.
Wishing all pre's the best of luck with your upcoming surgeries. Remember... the waiting is really the most difficult part.
Be blessed!
