Cervical Cancer: Treatment will depend on the stage of your disease. If the cancer only involves the "surface" of the cervix you can undergo surgery to remove the abnormal tissue. If there is a tumor that does not involve the uterus then only the tumor may be removed. Either way you may still need radiation therapy or possibly chemo. If the cancer has spread to the uterus, more than likely the doctor is going to recommend a hysterectomy.
Dyspasia and other pre-cancerous lesions Treatment for this depends on the "grade" of the lesion. Treatments include cervical conization which is surgical excision, cryosurgery which is freezing, leep which is a laser type procedure, cauterization which is burning the lesions, or hysterectomy. Hystectomy does not seem to be a highly recommended procedure for pre-cancerous lesions.
Each woman must research and find out exactly what her best option is. Get lots of opinions and then make a decision based on knowledge!
