Hello Everyone
Before TAH my hemoglobin was 11. My uterus had the appearance of a woman at least 5 months pregnant.
The day before the TAB my blood pressure was up (had never had any hypertensive reading in my 43 years) I put this rise in BP to "fear".
Immediately on recovering from surgery, I was told by a cardiologist I had the onset of hypertension and may have heart problems. This was quite confusing for me as I had never had any of these problems before.
Anyhow, I was given 100mg of Tenormin and Bezide 25 mg daily in hospital.
On discharge I was given 50mg of Tenormin and Bezide 25 mg (Bendrofluazide) to continue at home daily.
From the time I started the medication I had pain in the back directly in line with my heart. I waited for the pain to lessen but it continued.
While recovering from TAB I took the following tests EKG/ECG (Electrocardigram), Echogram (Ultrasound of heart) and VMA (24 hour urine test). All test results said all was well. I tried to encourage the doctor to let me stop the medications. He insisted I should take them.
I continued on medication as the pain in my back and chest became worse.
When I try to get help as the pain got worst, both GYN and cardiologist were overseas (thousands spent and no doctors in their places).
I resorted to the emergency room. Where they informed me that although the ECG was normal I had "unstable angina". They increased the Tenormin to 100 mg (even though in pain my BP was normal) and they gave me nitroglcerine.
Needless to say on returning home I almost died and with the help of family members I stopped all medication.
Went through a withdrawal kind of thing. Felt better without medicines.
The Saturday after 3 days without any medication the chest pain started again but my BP was 134/70.
I found a doctor who diagnosed "costochondritis" i.e. Slipping Rib Syndrome.
Thank God for this doctor. Within 2 days of antiinflammatory medication (Vioxx 50 mg) I was feeling better. I am still taking Vioxx 25 mg to date.
Women out there, I do not know if it was wrong medication or what HELP ME!!!
I am now treating an ear infection, a vaginal infection (have not had sex since surgery) and have had mood swings. I am wondering after TAB (still have ovaries and cervix) is it normal to have so many "inflammatory problems?"
Glad to say I am not feeling as sick as when I was treating BP and possible heart problem!! Most of all my new doctor LISTENS!
Please help me sort out my confusion. Thanks in advance.
